What Styles Are Trending For Gen Z Guys?

Every generation has its defining styles, but recently it has become harder to tell where the trends are coming from; this is partly due to changes in the style ideology. Gen Z is increasingly autonomous when it comes to style trends, but there are a few constants that we can find. 

Casual Styles

When it comes to Gen Z guys, it is all about casual styles, plain t-shirts, simple jackets, and white trainers; these are styles that you can wear anytime and anywhere, and they make you feel modern and on-trend. A very typical outfit for a Gen Z guy is a white t-shirt with black jeans or joggers and a pair of white shoes. Visit any Gen Z wardrobe, and you will find the items. 

What has been described above would be considered a base outfit by a Gen Z guy; the outfit would be further enhanced with a bomber jacket, a crewneck sweater, or a zip-up sweater to match the weather or the style season. Loose pants and skinny jeans are also out of favor with Gen Z guys; instead, they opt for well-fitting trousers and tapered pants that are smart casual.    

Skater Styles

In case you hadn’t noticed, modern trends have been mining the past for inspiration, and nothing has escaped attention. First, it was a throwback to the eighties, then the nineties, but other decades have become popular too – even the fifties and the twenties. At the moment, Gen Z guys think favorably of the nineties and early 2000s when skater wear was at an all-time high. 

Skater wear is characterized by baggy trousers, oversized shirts, Vans, and caps. It is true that some Gen Z guys are moving away from the baggy look in favor of a tailored style, but it is not all of them. The Gen Z style manual is a diverse place; you can find trending looks that seem to be in direct opposition; in fact, the opposite is true; Gen Z styles are a patchwork of the past.  

Summer Styles

With this summer firmly in the past, it is a good time to look back at some of the latest Gen Z styles from the season. Gen Z is predictably unpredictable; the general rule is that most things are acceptable as long as they work and look cool. This summer, Gen Z guys were wearing shorter shorts, button-up tops, graphic t-shirts, and even socks with sandals in the sunshine. 

While this might look tacky to some or like a fashion crime to older generations, it’s right on-trend for some Gen Z guys. Again, this summer’s styles felt somewhat familiar, as if the Beach Boys had been transported from the 1960s and put to work promoting their latest fashion ideas on Tik-Tok and Instagram. There’s no harm in that; those styles were bursting with flavor.  

Piercings

One fashion style that is definitely trending at the moment, no matter what gender you are, is a septum piercing. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this piercing, it’s the one that goes through the middle part of the nose and hangs down, a little bit like a cow nose ring. In fact, this piercing has been popular for thousands of years in cultures around the world, but it’s trending. 

Gen Z guys are getting in on the action. Some people think a septum piercing is only for guys or the non-binaries, but, in reality, gender doesn’t matter; it is all about your look, your personality, and how you choose to express yourself. More than anything, it is this ideology that dominates the style trends in Gen Z people. Still, expect to see many Gen Z guys with a nose piercing ring.  

Trendy Styles

Gen Z people are ethical consumers; they care about the manufacturing conditions and distribution networks of the products. Still, that is not true of everyone; on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, there are plenty of influencers ready to sell fast fashion to Gen Z users. As a result of this, style trends are changing fast, and it’s hard to predict what is on-trend. 

That said, there are a few trendy styles that have lasted the distance, styles that we can reliably point to as generation-defining – at least for now. These styles include ripped jeans, short shorts, joggers, graphic t-shirts, and bulky shoes.
