Watch As Two Wingsuiters Fly Through London’s Tower Bridge
In an amazing display of precision flying, Austrian skydivers Marco Fürst & Marco Waltenspiel accomplished a remarkable feat, successfully navigating a wingsuit flight through London’s iconic landmark, Tower Bridge. This was a world’s first, and you can see the epic flight above!
Jumping from a helicopter, the pair descended from an altitude of 3,000ft and flew across the River Thames about 100 feet above the water between the bridge towers. They reached speeds in excess of 153mph as they passed through the narrow ‘window’ between the iconic towers.
After successfully flying through the gap, they pulled a ‘flare’ maneuver, climbing rapidly to around 280 feet before deploying their parachutes and making a controlled landing on two designated barges in the middle of the Thames. The whole jump took just 45 seconds. 🪂
Canon captured all of the light-speed action with 24 cameras in 14 different positions around Tower Bridge. While Fürst and Waltenspiel made it look effortless, this jump was two and a half years in the making, with about 200 training jumps beforehand.
“I just feel amazing. The jump was beautiful and everything worked out really well. In the last two and a half years we planned everything through and had the best preparation and training. I really enjoyed the journey and I’m really grateful to work with Marco and such a good team to bring our dream to life,” said an elated Marco Fürst.
You can see some photos from their jump below:
Pretty amazing stuff, it looks like something straight out of a movie!
