The Most Bizarre iPhone Application Ever!
I got an e-mail the other day about a new iPhone app targeting sports fans. Here’s the concept:
As a Celtics fan, there’s only so much you can do to help your team. Yell during free throws, turn your baseball cap inside out at the bottom of the ninth, blow a vuvuzela. But if you’re truly committed to your team’s success, perhaps you’d be willing to go a little further. Sports Hex is the first app in the world that lets sports fans cast hexes on opposing teams or athletes using REAL practitioners of witchcraft. Just type in your target, select a hex (Voodoo, Brujeria, or Chaos Witchcraft), and hit the cast button to tip the karmic scales in your team’s favor.
Strange, right? But wait, there’s more! Check out this creepy YouTube video they produced:
That shit is going to give me nightmares for a week!
Sports Hex is free to download, and you can follow all of the latest hexes in app. Placing a ‘hex’ costs 99 cents, which also allows you to share your activity on Facebook or Twitter. Additionally, your ‘hex’ will show up in-app.
It’s a unique concept, but I just don’t see people dropping “real” money on a novelty like this. Then again, I didn’t expect mobile ringtones to become a billion dollar industry either!
What do you think?
