Spring Clear Out? How To Make Your Garden Debris-Free Quickly And Easily
It’s going to be March soon, and that means spring will be in full swing very quickly. If you’re one of those lucky homeowners who’s got a garden, it’s time to get out there and clear it up! Winter debris can get deep into the cracks and corners, and you’ll need at least a good weekend to get rid of everything. Along that vein, if you’d like to shift as much garden waste as possible in a short time, start with the tips down below. The less effort you have to put in, the better the job will feel!
Cover Up
If you’re going to clear the garden out, don’t do it alone! Make sure you’re wearing the right kind of clothes. It’s very easy to get nicked by a thorn or have your skin scratched by bits of old wood and scrap metal, and it’s even easier than you’d ever think to get a tetanus infection as well. So invest in some good gardening gloves and think about putting on overalls or a boiler suit to keep your lower half safe.
Rent a Truck
Finding a nearby pickup truck rental is the next thing to think about. If you have a vehicle with a lot of space to hand, throwing garbage in the back to take away will really speed up the process of clearing out the yard. Any loose items just need bagging up before you load them onto the flatbed area, but from there you just need to head to the nearest recycling or tipping center.
Throw in Obvious Trash
If you’re going to clear the garden in double time, you need to work from where you’re standing inwards. Don’t try to tackle from the back upwards or from the sides toward the center – go from where you are to make the quickest work.
Pick up the biggest pieces and carry them out, whether to the truck or dumpster you’ve rented – rinse and repeat until all the obvious trash in your path has been cleared. You’ve made the worksite a lot safer and now you’ll be able to see the trash that’s accumulated underneath without any nasty surprises.
Then Tackle Overgrowth
Plantlife is going to make up a lot of the winter debris you find in your garden. Make sure you’re ready to tackle this once the biggest stuff is out of the way. This is where your gloves are really going to come in handy – a lot of weeds will need ripping up at the root and any fallen branches and rotten leaf piles can be hard to shift with bare hands.
Prepare an area for all of the overgrowth on one side of your yard and then sort through it after you’ve cut back and collected the majority. You’ll soon notice a lot of space popping up!
If you need to have a spring clear out once the weather gets a bit warmer, use these tips to get a step ahead.
