Rivian is getting into the Halloween spirit, pushing out a couple of “car costumes” to their R1 electric vehicles that are super cool.

That’s right, Rivian has introduced a whole new way for owners to get into the spooky holiday spirit, allowing them to “dress up” for the occasion. When in park, owners can choose from one of three costumes: K.I.T.T., Time Machine, Or Trunk or Treat.

Knight Rider fans will be blown away by the transformation to their vehicles, with the interior display system featuring K.I.T.T.’s diagnostics on screen, while the original show intro music plays through the speakers. But wait, there’s more! For Gen 2 owners, the exterior lightbar will cascade a red beam just like K.I.T.T. and exude its iconic scanner sound effect, creating the ultimate Knight Rider experience.

Back To The Future fans can turn their rides into everyone’s favorite time machine (“Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!”), with the interior screen showing the iconic Back to the Future interface, as well as music and the Time Machine acceleration sound effect from the film. Gen 2 owners can hit the 88mph button to engage BTTF-themed lighting and sound effects in the front and rear of the vehicle.

Trunk or Treat isn’t nearly as cool, but this haunted car costume has 8 different sound effects and 3 different color themes to choose from, ranging between purple, yellow, red, and green. This will take over your interior display screen with static and ghosts. Gen 1 owners get a green animation on the vehicle’s exterior, and for Gen 2 owners the exterior light bar will reflect whichever color option you choose from, for a frightfully fun experience.

But that’s not all. The Owl chirp is back, along with two spooky chirp options for Gen 1 owners and four for Gen 2. Pedestrians on the driver display have also turned into zombies, and bicyclists and motorcyclists are headless horsemen, all while driving your vehicle. Plus, Camp mode has gotten a chilling update, featuring crows, pumpkins, and even green flames at nighttime. You’ll see similar spooky 3D artwork across all of our Drive Modes as well.

Not gonna lie, it’s pretty awesome to see another automaker (besides Tesla) have a little fun. Assuming your R1T or R1S already has the 2024.39 update and you have the latest version of the mobile app, you should get the costume update via an OTA update soon.

The costumes will be available until November 4, so have fun with them while you can! 🎃
