Modern Essentials For Living The Good Life In 2013
Oscar Wilde once said, “A well-tied tie is the first serious step in life.”
It’s amazing how a few small changes to your lifestyle can make a huge difference in the way you feel about yourself and the way others perceive you. Whether you’re a 20-something just starting out or a 40-something looking for something new, or if you’re looking to step-up your game in the new year, this article is the place to start. See what products you’re missing that can improve your commute, health, appearance and presence at work.
Ride:
Whether you bike, skate or drive do it in style.
Breezers is a 30-year-old bicycle company that makes mountain, road and transportation bikes. Models like the Downtown 8, Uptown Fleet LS, Seek O and VIA 1 are both classic and refined. If you’re looking for an above average bike experience, luxury fashion and car brands have taken to bike manufacturing. The Bianchi by Gucci runs at around $14K, and Lamborghini has a bike model that’ll set you back $26,000!
Luxury is probably an antonym when it comes to the skater lifestyle. Skateboards are not about having extra bells and whistles. Choose quality board brands like Zero, Enjoi, Blind and Girl.
The modern man wants a car that’s fast and functional. Luxury sports cars transfer from the city to the outdoors seamlessly, giving you edge while keeping it cool. New vehicles like the ATS from Cadillac pride themselves on this capability and are still pretty affordable.
Live:
Living healthy and well groomed is the foundation of living your best life. Fitbit is a company that makes awesome health tracking technology for the man on-the-go. From the Meet Zip activity tracker, The One sleep and activity tracker to the WiFi fit scale Aria, which tracks weight, BMI and body fat percentage – All of these products make a healthy lifestyle easy and efficient.
When it comes to grooming, Baxter of California makes great men’ s products. Every man should have a legitimate shave brush and Baxter’s Badger Hair shave brush is a quality product that signifies class. Items like nail clippers and a comb with a case are essentials that should be on you at all times.
Work:
Master style and functionality at the workplace. Compile calendars, planners and notes together by investing in a tablet (if you already don’t have one). They aren’t as bulky to carry around and are easier to manage in meetings than a clumsy notepad and pen.
Invest in a LogiTech Keyboard cover, and carry all your essentials in an stylish and simple bag like Jack Spade’s Twill Swiss Brief with strap. Keep your phone up and above desk clutter with the Blue Lounge Milo and carry work between work and home with a Swiss Army Flash Drive.
Wear:
There are wardrobe essentials ever man should own. For basics like khakis, sweaters, polos and basic T’s, Ralph Lauren is known for its quality and timeless essentials.
A versatile, great quality belt is worth the investment, leather belts by Billy Reid are both modern and traditional and can be worn to work or out for the weekend.
Formal shirts, suit jackets and slacks are expensive staples that can make all the difference in how you present yourself to coworkers, bosses and potential dates. If you’re looking to drop some cash check out Paul Stuart, he makes some of the best men’s wear in the business.
Well tailored clothes are key to looking great. Regardless of what brand something is, if it’s sagging in the back or your buttons are fighting to keep it together, you won’t look good.
Polish every outfit off with a dab of age-appropriate cologne. Visit a local department store and ask for help from a sales associate if you’re unsure how to find a scent that suits you.
