Kia pro_cee’d GT and cee’d GT Set For Geneva Reveal
The new Kia pro_cee’d GT and cee’d GT were unveiled today ahead of their formal world premiere at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show on March 5th.
Designed by Kia’s European design studio under the supervision of Peter Schreyer, the two vehicles feature bold athletic styling, LED daytime running lights, dual-exhaust pipes, 18-inch alloy wheels and eye-catching red brake calipers.
Kia is calling the pair “the most performance-focused Kia models yet.” They share the Hyundai Veloster Turbo’s 1.6-liter turbocharged GDI four-cylinder engine, which puts out 204HP and 195lb-ft. Coupled to a six-speed manual transmission, you can expect a 0-60 time of around 8 seconds.
While this seems like a natural fit given the recent popularity of hot hatches, Kia says there are no plans to launch the Kia pro_cee’d GT or cee’d GT in the US.
That’s a shame, because with a better name (What the heck is a pro_cee’d?) and a little more power, this Kia could really give the Volkswagen GTI, MazdaSpeed3, and Ford Focus ST a real run for their money.
Prices and specifications will be confirmed closer to the on-sale date.
