Joey Chestnut & Takeru Kobayashi Face Off In Live Hot Dog Eating Contest On Netflix
As you might have heard, 16-time hot dog eating champion Joey Chestnut has been banned from the 2024 Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest, due to Chestnut’s recent endorsement deal with “rival” Impossible Foods. And the world is absolutely outraged by the decision by Major League Eating.
But fear not, because streaming live on Netflix on September 2nd, Joey Chestnut will face off against his rival Takeru Kobayashi in Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef, a winner-takes-all hot dog eating contest. The showdown will settle a 15-year rivalry between the two competitive eaters: Will Chestnut maintain his title as the world’s greatest, or will Kobayashi come in with a vengeance and regain his throne?
World record-holder for eating 76 hot dogs in 10 minutes, Joey Chestnut has been dominating the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest for the past 8 years in a row.
“Through all of my years in competitive eating, Kobayashi stands out as my fiercest rival,” said Chestnut. “Competing against him pushed me to be so much better. I know that fans have waited a long time for another chapter of our rivalry, and I can’t wait for our massive showdown live on Netflix! It’s time to give the people what they want!”
Six-time Nathan’s Hot Dog champion Takeru Kobayashi is no stranger to professional eating. He brought fame to the sport in 2001 when he won his first Hot Dog Eating Championship by eating double the amount of hot dogs the previous record holder ate, and he continued to hold that title for many years. While rumors swirled about his retirement, Kobayashi is here to stay.
“Retiring for me will only happen after I take him down one last time,” said Kobayashi. “This rivalry has been brewing for a long time. Competing against Joey live on Netflix means fans all over the world can watch me knock him out.”
For years, the rivalry between Chestnut and Kobayashi dominated headlines at the Nathan’s July 4th Hot Dog Eating Contest as the two GOATS battled back & forth for the championship title. The two competitive eating legends have not faced-off in a hot dog eating competition since 2009 – when Chestnut finally bested Kobayashi in a 5 hot dog sudden death eat off.
Now 15 years later, Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi are prepared to compete once again. Will Chestnut maintain his current title as the champion hot dog eater? Or will Kobayashi come in with a vengeance, and regain his throne?
This Labor Day is going to be one for the books, with these two glizzy gladiators giving it their all, live on Netflix! 🌭🌭
