Introducing The Lighter, More Powerful Pagani Huayra BC
Pagani Automobili has introduced their first update to the Huayra since the hypercar made its debut back in 2011. It’s called the Pagani Huayra BC (in honor of Benny Caiola, the company’s first customer), and this special edition Huayra goes on a serious diet to create an even more hardcore coupe.
The original Pagani Huayra was an already light and powerful car made of carbon fiber and titanium. But they managed to shed nearly 300lbs through cuts in weight to the transmission, suspension and tires, with the BC weighing in at 2,685 pounds (compared to a standard Huayra’s 2,976 pounds).
The BC retains the Huayra’s Mercedes-AMG-sourced 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12, but Pagani has gotten 60 more horsepower out of it, totaling 789 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a transverse 7-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission.
And there are also those unmistakable aerodynamic mods. Aimed mostly at increasing down force, there are modifications found on every inch of the body apart from the roof of the car. The list includes new splitters, intakes and air channels plus that huge wing at the rear.
Given the additional power, down force and reduction in weight, the Huayra BC should be putting down some impressive performance numbers. The regular Huayra hits 62 mph from rest in 3.2 seconds and tops out at close to 230 mph, so expect the Huayra BC to improve on those figures.
Despite the $2.5 million price tag and the fact that the car won’t debut until the Geneva Motor Show, all 20 examples of the Huayra BC are already sold out. You snooze, you lose.
