Here’s Your Very First Look At ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’
The first teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story debuted on “Good Morning America” this morning. What’s that, you missed it? Not to worry, we’ve got you covered!
Rogue One is the first standalone film in the Star Wars franchise, and the plot focuses on a group of Rebels sent on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star in the lead-up to “A New Hope”. This rag-tag group is led by Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), a young girl with a history of insubordination and reckless behavior.
As you can see, the trailer gives us some gorgeously Star Wars-y visuals, including the circular, radar-dish piece of the Death Star being lifted into place, a sinister baddie, dressed in white, standing in an imposing looking room, AT-ATs blasting at Rebel soldiers on a sandy beachfront, all accompanied by a repetitious noise that could only come from a galaxy far, far away.
What makes this trailer so successful is that it’s clearly firmly planted in a recognizable Star Wars universe, but this is an entirely new spin. You can see images and moments that call back to the original film and original trilogy, but their context is wholly different.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens on December 16th.
