Genesis Just Unleashed Two Jaw-Dropping Concept Cars
Genesis just pulled the wraps off two striking new concept vehicles at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show — introducing the Genesis X Gran Coupe Concept and Genesis X Gran Convertible Concept. Both models are based on the brand’s G90 flagship vehicle and mark a step forward in Genesis’ vision for emotional luxury and design-forward innovation.
Presented at the KINTEX convention center under the theme “Unfold a New Era of Genesis,” the debut also served as a moment for the brand to reflect on a past decade of progress while looking toward the future.
“In the 10 years since our launch, Genesis has been dedicated to delivering its unique values to more than 1.3 million customers worldwide,” said Mike Song, Global Head of Genesis. “We aim to seize this opportunity as a launchpad for a new decade, showcasing models that embody Genesis’ pursuit of high-performance technology and future luxury design.”
Flagship Inspiration, Elevated Design
The Genesis X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible represent the company’s effort to explore exclusive vehicle typologies — the coupe and convertible — with their own unique expressions of the brand’s design DNA.
The X Gran Coupe Concept leans into the brand’s interpretation of athletic elegance with a low-slung, sculpted roofline and proportions reminiscent of classic grand tourers. Inspired by the Mediterranean olive tree, the coupe’s interior and material choices reflect natural luxury, pairing sustainability with craftsmanship.
The X Gran Convertible Concept brings a different kind of energy. With styling influenced by the essence of fine wine from Southern Europe, it’s a design meant to evoke richness, freedom and open-air driving. The open-top layout is matched by an exterior color that mirrors pressed grapes, while the interior uses deep, Cabernet-inspired tones to set a luxurious mood.
“Each car is a unique expression of Genesis’ luxury ethos designed to provide a sophisticated and immersive driving experience,” said Ilhun Yoon, Head of the Genesis Design Center.
Design Details That Speak Louder Than Words
Genesis didn’t hold back on the visual signatures. Both concepts feature Genesis’ Two-Line signature headlights, which now extend dramatically across the fenders, emphasizing their wide, planted stance. The front end blends those lights with a Crest Grille that’s been updated with a mesh pattern inspired by woven metal strings.
From the side, the lowered rooflines and lengthened doors give both cars a bold, flowing profile. Frameless windows drop completely, creating an uninterrupted look, while sculpted fenders and aerodynamic side panels visually push the cars closer to the ground.
The wheel designs take a bespoke approach for each car. The coupe’s wheels feature a five double-spoke design with a layered finish that catches light from every angle. The convertible opts for a more dramatic five-star look with a sculptural, cross-sectioned appearance that highlights its athleticism. In both, the deep-dish construction and widened stance give the vehicles a more aggressive, planted look.
At the rear, the design remains clean and futuristic. The familiar Two-Line taillights make a return, now integrated with flush Genesis logos and retractable rear cameras. Tailpipes are tucked neatly into a slim rear fascia, and a ducktail spoiler caps off the sleek rear profile. A gesture-based trunk system replaces buttons entirely, underscoring the brand’s focus on seamless interaction.
Interior Themes: From Olive Trees to Fine Wine
The X Gran Coupe’s interior leans into sustainability and natural materials. The cabin is trimmed with microperforated olive wood veneer, and the scent of naturally tanned leather made from byproducts of Italian olive oil production sets a distinctive tone. A fully quilted leather roof, olive leaf-motif floor mats, and stitched tunnel console add to the artisanal vibe.
In contrast, the X Gran Convertible goes deeper into mood and richness. The grape-colored cabin features clay-toned crystal accents on the wheel, console, and vents. Paired with soft-touch materials throughout, the overall feel is luxurious without being flashy. Genesis designers aimed to create a sense of immersion through color and texture, rather than overloading with tech.
Focused Driving, Thoughtful Details
Both cars aim to elevate the driving experience through subtle design moves. The steering wheel features a patterned aluminum lower spoke, echoing the detailing of the interior’s tactile controls. Integrated screens in the seat backs, rear-seat displays, and flush-mounted air vents offer a clean look that doesn’t sacrifice tech.
On Display Now at the Seoul Mobility Show
If you’re in Korea, both concept cars are on display at the Genesis booth at the Seoul Mobility Show, running through April 13. Alongside them, you’ll also find the GV60 Magma Concept, GV80 Black, the refreshed GV60 and GV70, and the G90.
For Genesis, these two concepts aren’t just design studies — they’re a look into the brand’s next era. And based on first impressions, it’s an era that blends luxury, elegance, power, and individuality in a way that’s hard to ignore.
