Do Road Trips Have To Feel So Tiring?
There’s a great deal of comfort that comes from opening up your vacation plans, from booking an all-inclusive paid trip you barely have to plan for, to enjoying a cruise on the ocean where you’re never responsible for the actual charting of the boat, if you’re just looking to blow off some steam and have a good time, there are many options out there for you.
But at the same time, having your autonomy substituted is not always what you’re looking for, despite your intentions to rest. It’s fun to chart your own day instead of heading into the itinerary of someone elses’, and from there figuring out your path forward is relatively hard to consider.
One question is worth asking – do road trips have to feel so tiring? After all, road trips provide the ultimate in freedom, but driving miles on miles each day is hardly what some people might consider “a vacation to recharge.” Is it possible to fuse both of these virtues – a peaceful time and autonomy – without having to pay through the nose for it?
In this post, we’ll discuss a few methods of making that road trip not only feel exciting, but rejuvenating in kind. Without further ado, let’s get started:
Plan Your Drives Around Sleep & Rotate Drivers
You don’t go on a road trip to simply sleep in numerous places, there’s a little more to your intention than that, but this is the bedrock upon which everything else rests. Driving is tiring no matter how or where you do it, and so it’s wise to plan for rest stops along the way and to rotate drivers when you can. Simply having a list of motels or hotels you could stop off in if needed, making sure you get your eight hours with enough time to rest in the evening, being very moderate about your alcohol intake at night, all of these things help you relax into your road trip without grinding ennui.
Consider Your Vehicle
Driving in a comfortable, relaxing vehicle is essential, and perhaps your main car isn’t going to be applicable for that purpose. It might be that you lease an electric vehicle for example, rent a car, or use VinFast for that smooth ride and quiet hum of operation. Over the miles, having the constant drone of a loud engine can wear away at us, which is why planning for this eventuality in advance can be so worthwhile. Considering a vehicle, then, requires a good bit of planning, but can take your drive to the next level.
Regular Breaks & Fresh Air
One of the other issues causing tiredness behind the wheel is the stagnant environment. Even if you have a good air purifier and crack a window, ultimately you’re in a busy road environment which means you’re not getting the freshest or least polluted air around. It’s healthy to take rest breaks to hydrate, stretch your legs, and gain lungfuls of fresh, unspoiled air. This can help you feel more energetic, especially after a few hours of driving or when waking up in the morning to start your day. Of course, if you feel too tired to go on, never avoid calling it quits for the day. Your safety, and the safety of others depends on it.
With this advice, you’re sure to avoid the constant drone of a tired road trip and enjoy a much more comfortable one instead.
