Costa Tequila Café – A Tequila-Based Coffee Liqueur Like No Other!

Costa Tequila Café

Now I’ll be honest, I’m not really much of a tequila person. Sure, if I’m out with my friends and someone is buying a round of tequila shots, I’ll happily accept it. But it’s definitely not my first choice when it comes to hard alcohol, as I just don’t love the taste of it. As it turns out, maybe I’ve just been drinking the wrong stuff up until now.

Costa Tequila offers the only lineup of Hi/Lo tequilas that brings together the flavor profiles from 100% Blue Weber Agave sourced in two separate tequila-producing regions in Jalisco, Mexico: “Los Altos” (the Highlands) and “Valle de Tequila” (the Lowlands). Their unique blend marries the fruity, sweet, soft notes of tequila plants from the mountainous Highlands region with distinct peppery, earthy, spicy characteristics of Lowlands tequila varietals.

I recently got to sample all 4 of their tequila blends (Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, and Café), and I was blown away by how good they all were. But my favorite by far was Costa Café, a mild yet smooth tequila-based liqueur that reminded me of an espresso martini. It’s so freaking good!

Costa Tequila Café is a wonderful blend of premium Blanco tequila and 100% Mexican coffee beans. This handcrafted product contains a rich coffee flavor with notes of caramel and vanilla, is exceptionally smooth and has the perfect amount of sweetness. Costa Café, at 35% ABV or 70 proof, can be enjoyed neat, over ice, or as an ingredient in your favorite coffee cocktails.

“Tequila is growing as a segment. We’ve noticed consumers exploring different ways to create unique drinks that offer something other than the beloved margarita,” says Costa Tequila Founder Stephen Gavula III. “As our customers’ pallets evolve, we need to do the same. There isn’t currently a wide variety of coffee-based tequilas on the market, Costa Café is a premium product that we find exciting, new and interesting.”

With Costa Café, the possibilities are endless. Here’s one cocktail recipe that’s sure to please, courtesy of Costa Tequila mixologist and ambassador Chef Meredith Ouzounian:
