Final Fantasy X and its sequel Final Fantasy X-2 represented huge milestones for the franchise. They were the first games on the PS2, the first with full voice over work, and the first to introduce and entirely new generation to the Final Fantasy universe. I am not going to argue the greatness of games like Final Fantasy 7 or 8 against X and X-2, but these two PS2 games inarguable pointed the way forward for the newest generation of Japanese RPGs.

The remastered HD version arrives in stores next Tuesday for PS3, and Square Enix has been kind enough to drop the official release trailer. Click play to see how the graphics have been updated and watch a few of those great classic battles and summons. It’s like nostalgia 2.0.
