The announcement came straight from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who confirmed in a post on X that, “chatgpt image gen now rolled out to all free users!” This means that whether you’re a paying subscriber or just a casual user, you can now tap into ChatGPT’s powerful new image-generation capabilities without spending a dime.

A Surge in AI-Generated Images

ChatGPT’s image tool has been making waves recently, with users generating everything from hyper-realistic portraits to Studio Ghibli-style animations. The popularity of AI-generated visuals has skyrocketed, leading Altman to jokingly post, “our servers are melting,” as the platform has been struggling to keep up with the unprecedented demand.

However, there is a catch—free users are currently limited to generating three images per day. If you want unlimited access, you’ll still need to subscribe to ChatGPT Plus for $20 a month or opt for the Pro subscription at $200 per year.

Putting ChatGPT 4o to the Test

That said, once the hype has died down and people only generate AI-created images as needed, I’m sure things will work at a faster rate.
