Brooklyn Startup .Bk Offers Unique And Affordable Limited Edition Menswear

.Bk is a Brooklyn-based limited edition menswear startup that offers buyers personal, handcrafted clothing in transparent, limited quantities. In place of mass production, the company champions the use of small batch production for its use of skilled, salaried tailors that craft each garment individually. The result is luxury quality, small production runs, and a personal relationship between maker and garment.

Every week, .Bk releases a unique limited edition button-down shirt, and each shirt is hand-numbered like artwork. Because everyone has their own personal style, and they shouldn’t have to share it with thousands of people. And they’re able to do it affordably to boot, at just $68 a shirt.

“After six months of connecting with customers & testing our product, we’ve pivoted to a weekly model instead of a collection-based one. In doing so, we’ve accelerated our design process and increased the exclusivity of each shirt while still offering incredible, handcrafted quality at an accessible price point,” says .Bk founder Teghvir Sethi.

The .Bk mission was also inspired by an earlier time, when the men’s fashion industry wasn’t yet dominated by mass produced clothing. So pairing the new business model with this lifestyle theme seems a fitting choice. Says Sethi, “We realized something: most men’s shirts are mass-produced by the thousands. Week by week, we’re making unique style possible again.”

We had a chance to sample the Founder’s Oxford Cloth Button Down shirt that’s shown above, and we were really impressed with it. The shirt has a modern, slim fit that tapers in at the waist and out at the bottom, with a precise, white single-needle threat stitching as per the OCBD custom. And the contrasting pocket helps you stand out from the crowd. We like that.

We really think .Bk is onto something here, and we can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us.
