Airport Climate Portal Lets You Feel The Weather At Your Destination
The Arlanda airport in Stockholm, Sweden has installed these weather pods that let travelers experience the weather of the city that they’re heading to. You know, in case you didn’t realize that it is CRAZY FREAKNG HOT in Dubai and you forgot to pack shorts.
In reality, it’s just a publicity stunt by the airport to help brag about all the worldwide destinations it serves, but it’s still cool nonetheless. You simply tell the pods where you are going and they look up the forecast for you. The system then uses heaters, AC units, misters, fans, and audio/visual cues to cook up weather almost just like what’s going on at your destination so you can feel what it will be like.
Considering how cold it was at my gate over the weekend, if my airport had a weather pod, I would have just punched in Hawaii so that I could warm up for a few minutes. 🙂
The portal is open to everyone traveling through the airport until the end of August, so if your travel plans take you to Stockholm over the next few months, try it out for yourself and let us know what you thought of it!
