When Ford first announced their $325,000 2025 Ford Mustang GTD, they promised us a street-legal track car with “more than 800 horsepower”. Today, Ford unveiled the official numbers for the Mustang GTD, and they are seriously impressive.. as they should be for this kind of $$.

The all-new 2025 Mustang GTD sets a new performance bar with 815 horsepower, 664 lb-ft of torque, and a top speed of 202 miles per hour – the most of any street-legal Mustang ever!

With these certified horsepower and torque numbers, along with the Mustang GTD’s cutting-edge active aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic brakes, and inboard-rear suspension with semi-active dampers, the Mustang GTD prepares to deliver on the promise of a sub-seven-minute lap of the iconic Nürburgring.

Delivering even more power than the latest Mustang Shelby GT500, the Mustang GTD takes that same supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine and adds a dry-sump oil system that not only helps keep the engine lubricated through sustained and demanding cornering on-track, but also enables a slightly elevated maximum engine speed of 7,650 rpm (up 100 rpm). Revised intake and exhaust, a standard titanium exhaust, and a smaller supercharger pulley help achieve these impressive performance numbers.

Beyond the power needed to achieve its 202-mph top speed, Mustang GTD also features a Drag Reduction System that can change the angle of the rear wing and activate flaps under the front of the car to find exactly the right balance between airflow for speed and downforce for grip, depending on performance conditions.

“We’ve been laser focused to make the Mustang GTD the first-ever supercar with world-class performance and the soul of a Mustang,” said Mustang GTD Chief Program Engineer Greg Goodall. “GTD’s heart is its supercharged 5.2-liter V8, packing more horsepower per liter than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.”

Only time will tell if Ford will be able to deliver their sub-7-minute promise to GTD customers. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS that they’re clearly benchmarking did it in 6 minutes 49.328 second, so that’s really the time to beat.

The application window for buying a Mustang GTD closed back in May, with North American production expected to start later this year or early in 2025.
