We recently had a chance to get some seat time in the updated 2025 Ford Bronco Sport, and let me tell you, there’s even more to like about this compact crossover. As you may recall, we were really taken by the “Baby Bronco” after reviewing the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Badlands, even stating that we liked it more than the larger Bronco.

For 2025, Ford upgraded the Bronco Sport based on consumer feedback (and borrowing a few things from the bigger Bronco), delivering a vehicle with increased capability, advanced new technologies and modular, accessory-ready functional updates inside and out, all to help Bronco Sport customers go beyond the edge of the wild and leave the city behind.

But perhaps the biggest news about the 2025 Ford Bronco Sport is the addition of an optional Sasquatch package, which will be available for Outer Banks and Badlands trim levels. Like on the regular Bronco, the Sasquatch package delivers a big boost of off-road capabilities, starting with an ultra-rugged twin-clutch rear-drive unit and locking rear differential included. Perfect for those who wish to leave the pavement behind and explore the great outdoors.

Now I know what you’re thinking – are Bronco Sport owners really off-roading their vehicles?

“Bronco Sport customers love the outdoors and go off-roading 3.5 times as often as the owners of competitive vehicles, and camping twice as often,” said Matt Simpson, Ford Enthusiast Vehicles general manager. “They want to know they can overcome obstacles that come their way, which drove our designers and engineers to push Bronco Sport to a new level of capability and performance to let our customers do more and have more fun off-road.”

With the Sasquatch package, Bronco Sport owners can do some real off-roading, something we got to test out firsthand during a brief but exciting excursion at Ford’s new Bronco Off-Roadeo course in Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains, where we got to crawl rocks, traverse through lots of mud, get a little off camber, and see just how capable the Bronco Sport Sasquatch was. And let me tell you, I was beyond impressed by how easily it handled the off-road course!

The first thing you’ll notice about the Bronco Sport Sasquatch is the large 29-inch 235/65/R17 Goodyear Territory All Terrain tires that it runs on (largest in the class). Developed specifically for Bronco Sport Sasquatch, the tire was adapted from the Bronco with an open-tread design and reinforced sidewalls to provide traction across a variety of surfaces.

Included with Sasquatch are new class-exclusive Bilstein rear shocks with position-sensitive damping and piggyback reservoirs, which replace Bronco Sport Badlands’ standard monotube off-road dampers. The Bilstein shocks provide a wider range of compression and rebound damping capabilities, to absorb extreme events at higher speeds.

New front and rear springs increase ride height four-tenths of an inch over the current Bronco Sport Badlands, while Bronco Sport Badlands Sasquatch has up to up to 8.3 inches of front suspension travel and 8.7 inches of rear suspension travel. That’s six-tenths of an inch of additional suspension travel compared to the Bronco Sport Badlands. Just look at those rock crawling pictures – that’s pretty crazy, right?

Bronco Sport Sasquatch matches its upgraded suspension equipment and off-road technology with a standard front brush guard, seriously beefy steel skid plates, and modular, accessory-ready front and rear bumpers with steel bash plates as the first point of contact. Four recovery points (2 cast accessory-ready tow hooks in front and a 2 cast D-rings on the rear bumper) are designed to meet Ford’s off-road recovery requirements.

Another great feature in the 2025 Bronco Sport is the available 360-Degree Camera with Trail View which activates automatically in Off-Road and Rally G.O.A.T. Modes, functions at high speeds, and shows width-accurate tire overlays. Bronco Sport Badlands model and Sasquatch Badlands package offer an available 360-Degree Camera with class-exclusive Split View that shows the front tires using the cameras under the side-view mirrors. When you’re off-roading, having these different views is invaluable, so kudos to Ford for including that.

Speaking of G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) Modes, the 2025 Ford Bronco Sport has replaced “Mud and Ruts” and “Sandy” modes with “Off-Road” and “Rally” modes to simplify and clarify what conditions each mode is for. Rally Mode delivers more confidence at higher speeds in sand by holding gears longer for increased power on demand, sharpening throttle response, and increased feedback through the steering. Off-Road Mode is better suited for mud, dirt, rocks, and other off-road terrain.

In addition to G.O.A.T Modes, Bronco Sport adds Trail One-Pedal Drive, which provides more precise and confident behavior while rock crawling. When Trail One-Pedal is engaged, the driver only has to use the accelerator pedal to control the speed of the vehicle. Easing off the accelerator engages the brakes to automatically slow the vehicle and releasing the accelerator completely will bring Bronco Sport to a controlled stop.

“While other small SUVs simply look rugged, Bronco Sport is engineered rugged from the inside out and top to bottom,” said Eddie Khan, Bronco Sport Vehicle Engineering manager. “Bronco Sport has earned the right to call itself Built Wild with Sasquatch.”

Engine choices remain the same for 2025, with the choice of a 1.5L EcoBoost engine that puts out 180 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque, or a 2.0L EcoBoost (on the Bronco Sport Badlands) that puts out a hefty 238 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. Towing is rated at 2,200 pounds in the 1.5L models and 2,700 pounds in the 2.0L models.

Inside, the Bronco Sport now comes standard with a 13.2-inch touchscreen with the SYNC 4 system, complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Like the larger Bronco, the 2025 Bronco Sport is available with an accessory-ready Bring Your Own Device tray. Located behind the center display atop the dash, it includes two easy-to-access USB-C inputs, two of four accessible from the front seats and two of six in the cabin.

The center display is paired to a reconfigurable 12.3-inch digital instrument display that puts the most important information in front of drivers so they can keep their eyes on the off-road. The display includes unique animations that appear when the G.O.A.T. Mode changes.

All versions of Bronco Sport Sasquatch add four auxiliary switches above with hookups for rigging up light bars or any other electrically powered device you wish to control. There’s also a plethora of safety features (blind spot monitoring, pre-collision assist, adaptive cruise, etc) included with Ford Co-Pilot 360 Assist+.

Overall, we were really impressed with the changes to the 2025 Ford Bronco Sport, especially with the addition of the Sasquatch package. The Baby Bronco is more durable, more capable, and more versatile, and it’s ready to conquer any terrain. The Bronco Sport Sasquatch easily beats out the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, Subaru Forester Wilderness, and Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road in all off-roading categories.

The 2025 Ford Bronco Sport Big Bend, Outer Banks, and Badlands will hit dealers in November, while the Sasquatch package will be available in the first quarter of 2025. Pricing for all models will be revealed closer to their respective on-sale dates.
