The 2015 Infiniti QX60 is the luxury brand’s midsize crossover, and the QX60 competes in a crowded market full of excellent offerings. Yet it still manages to shine thanks to its great driving dynamics, good looks, and nicely-rounded packaging. With seating for up to seven, a gasoline or hybrid powertrain option, and both front- and all-wheel drive, this is a very configurable crossover as well.

For a week, we drove the QX60 as a daily driver hauling various passenger loads ranging from a solo driver out to six people with child safety seats and cargo. After 198 miles of cruising in the capable QX60, we came to love the mix of luxury, capability, and versatility that this crossover offers. It’s 3.5-liter V6 outputs ample power (265HP, 248lb-ft) and its continuously variable transmission (CVT) is smooth and efficient. The QX60 is a confident driver with more maneuverability and power than might be expected.

There’s also a more fuel efficient hybrid option for the QX60, but the V6 as we drove it, with all-wheel drive, is EPA rated at a respectable 21 mpg city, 27 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined. We averaged 24.8 mpg during our week, showing that the EPA’s numbers are doable here.

The 2015 Infiniti QX60 drives very well, despite its size. It’s bulk does affect tight parking situations and some cornering, of course, but for the most part, it’s similar to a big sedan in drive dynamics with the exception of sitting higher and with better visibility. The QX60 is not sporty, of course, being a more luxury-oriented family hauler than a sport machine. For sportiness, Infiniti has the QX70 crossover instead.

On the highway, the 2015 Infiniti QX60 is comfortable and well-mannered, returning a good feel of the road without being loud or rattling about it. It accelerates well and can easily jump around other vehicles, even at highway speeds.

During that drive, you’ll be sitting in one of the best interiors in the business. With plush beauty and some of the highest quality materials you’ll see in the segment, the Infiniti QX60 is roomy excellence. The modern, but not harsh, design of the interior has driver controls and passenger layout being as ergonomic as possible.

Seating is very comfortable and versatile, with the back seats folding forward easily to allow access to the third row. That third row is good for children and young adults and may be the most comfortable we’ve tried so far in a crossover this size. The second row comfortably seats two with plenty of head and shoulder room and can accommodate three fairly well.

Climate controls include tri-zone heating with ducts under the second and third rows as well as in the roof above them. This means that heating and air conditioning happen throughout the cabin efficiently, making comfort superb. Cargo space is great with about sixteen cubic feet behind the third row or a maximum of 76.5 cubes when both the second and third row stowed.

The 2015 Infiniti QX60 is a beautiful, luxurious crossover with a lot of family versatility built-in. Few will find complaints here as it offers usability, efficiency, and plush luxury in one package. The QX60 truly stands out in a market full of great luxury SUVs.
