Video Games

What red-blooded American male doesn’t love video games? From cheap to steep, we’ve got a number of options for the gamers on your list!

On The Cheap:
Points Cards – Every gaming system has some type of online currency that is used to purchase games and DLC content. When you need that extra something to fill a stocking or a gift for that cousin that always comes to Christmas even though nobody likes them, these are a great choice. They even have Steam cards for that Computer gamer in your life.

HD Game Collections – This year there were many HD remakes and game collections released for home consoles. The Metal Gear Solid series, God of War Series, and Jak and Daxter are just a few examples of the new remakes. These can usually be grabbed for $30 or less and all include at least three games. A great way to make that dollar stretch.

Blowing Some Dough:
Dishonored, Doom 3 BFG, Forza Horizon, Halo 4, Assassin’s Creed 3, and Far Cry 3 are all great choices. Honestly, there were so many huge game releases this year that it’s hard to make a specific recommendation. You can basically walk out of the store with any new game, and it’s sure to be a hit.

Turtle Beach XP400 Wireless Gaming Headset – Turtle Beach has a long history of making great products, but their newest generation of headphones is the best yet. The higher end XP 400 features optical audio in for the best possible sound, and Dolby processing to make the most of the large driver in the headset. That optical outlet also means that you can use them with almost anything, not just an Xbox 360. They are wireless, but operate on WiFi so there is little to no interference or lag. If you want the best possible sound for your gaming system, check out Turtle Beach.

Big Spender:
Wii U – If you’re cool with spending some extra cash, consider picking up the brand new Wii U gaming system. We just reviewed it, and we really enjoyed our time with it! Sure, there are a few things that could be implemented better, but as an overall gaming experience it’s hard to fault. If you can actually find one of these this holiday, you’ll be the King of the Gift Givers.

Playseat SV gaming chair – The Playseat SV is a full racing chair with mounts for a steering wheel and pedal setup. If you have a hardcore race fan in your family, this is a great gift. The price is a bit steep at $500+ but the SV model we recently spent time with features built-in speakers and vibration force feedback. These chairs take racing games to the next level. They also fold down to make them easier to store when not in use.
